By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
1. Identify how substance use and associated
behaviors are different for women and men
2. Discuss specific characteristics and
treatment needs of women
3. Understand the importance of specialized
treatment programs for women
Resources and lists of skills needed will be provided. Each
module includes an opportunity for discussion and application of the
content information. Links are available for participants to access
internet resources.
There is never a particular time that students are required to
be online. Communication is on a Discussion Board within the course, and
by email.=20
A post test is required in order to obtain credit through NAADAC
and certification boards. (Please note: You must answer at least 70% of
the post test questions correctly in order to receive your certificate
of completion) A post-evaluation is requested so that we can get
feedback on your experiences in participating in this course.

Farrell-Moore, LCSW, CSAC
Dawn Farrell-Moore has worked in the field of social work for
over 15 years with the majority of time spent in the area of
women-specific substance use issues. She is experienced in the operation
of women's services, particularly the perinatal/postpartum population,
and in providing services to urban, minority women (and their children)
suffering from substance use disorders and co-occurring mental illness.
She is currently the Special Projects Manager for the Richmond
Behavioral Health Authority's Substance Abuse Services Division where
she monitors various state and federal grant projects and coordinadtes
grants and research acitivities.

She has provided local, state, and national consultation and/or
trainings in the areas of women's addiction, program development, and
parenting. She has experience in the development of both gender-specific
programs and grant applications.

Mrs. Farrell-Moore possesses an LCSW and has CSAC certification.
She is past-Chair of the Commonwealth Partnership for Women and Children
Affected by Substance Use and participates on many local workgroups
related to women's substance use issues.
Courses are approved by the National Association of Alcoholism and Drug
Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) (Provider #000272), and the National Board of
Certified Counselors (NBCC) (Provider #6063) for educational credits.
For Virginia counselors, courses are also approved by the Substance
Abuse Certification Alliance of Virginia (SACAVA) for Category I, CAC
and CPP educational credits (Provider designation #30-4-02). Please
contact your local certification board to verify acceptance of
educational credits.

Dawn Farrell-Moore has worked in the field of social work for =
over 15
years with the majority of time spent in the area of =
women-specific
substance use issues. She is experienced in the operation of =
women's
services, particularly the perinatal/postpartum population, and =
in
providing services to urban, minority women (and their children)
suffering from substance use disorders and co-occurring mental =
illness.
She is currently the Special Projects Manager for the Richmond =
Behavioral
Health Authority's Substance Abuse Services Division where she =
monitors
various state and federal grant projects and coordinadtes grants =
and
research acitivities.<br>
<br>
She has provided local, state, and national consultation and/or
trainings in the areas of women's addiction, program =
development, and
parenting. She has experience in the development of both
gender-specific programs and grant applications.<br>
<br>
Mrs. Farrell-Moore possesses an LCSW and has CSAC certification. =
She is
past-Chair of the Commonwealth Partnership for Women and =
Children
Affected by Substance Use and participates on many local =
workgroups
related to women's substance use issues.</font></p>
