Dear Jacki,

I am late in getting this newsletter out. So much has been happening these past 
couple of weeks regarding the fiscal cliff, and I wanted to be sure this month's
 newsletter would give you a summary of of how a cap on charitable deductions would
hurt nonprofits and what action steps we need to take to help preserve it.
If the President and congress don't reach a deal on the fiscal cliff, $600 billion
will be taken out of the economy and economists agree a recession will result. Charitable
nonprofits are concerned about the Twin Threats:
Sequestration - If Congress fails to act before Jan. 2, 2013, automatic spending
 cuts will further reduce funding for almost every domestic program thereby increasing
demands on nonprofits while also decreasing resources for nonprofits to provide 
needed services.
Tax reform - What is currently on the table is a counter offer from the President
to Speaker Boehner to limit the value of itemized deductions at 28% and keep the
 charitable deductions cap at the current top tax rate of 35%. While this is progress
from a week ago, nonprofits take the view of 'no cap' on charitable deductions. 
We cannot relax on something this vital and we need to send a loud consistent message
not to tamper with charitable giving. Let's take this off the table for good so 
charities can get back to focusing on delivering their missions without fear of 
further governmental hurdles.
After our teleconference call this past Tuesday, what we heard loud and clear is
 that we need to speak up and share our stories. In the RESOURCE section of this
 newsletter you will find all the help you need to call the White House, Tweet, 
send a letter to your congressional representatives, and tell your story.

<div>I am late in getting this newsletter out. So much has been happening t=
hese past couple of weeks regarding the fiscal cliff, and I wanted to be su=
re this month's newsletter would give you a summary of of how a cap on char=
itable deductions would hurt nonprofits and what action steps we need to ta=
ke to help preserve it.<br /><br />If the President and congress don't reac=
h a deal on the fiscal cliff, $600 billion will be taken out of the economy=
 and economists agree a recession will result. Charitable nonprofits are co=
ncerned about the Twin Threats:<br /><br />Sequestration - If Congress fail=
s to act before Jan. 2, 2013, automatic spending cuts will further reduce f=
unding for almost every domestic program thereby increasing demands on nonp=
rofits while also decreasing resources for nonprofits to provide needed ser=
vices.<br /><br />Tax reform - What is currently on the table is a counter =
offer from the President to Speaker Boehner to limit the value of itemized =
deductions at 28% and keep the charitable deductions cap at the current top=
 tax rate of 35%. While this is progress from a week ago, nonprofits take t=
he view of 'no cap' on charitable deductions. We cannot relax on something =
this vital and we need to send a loud consistent message not to tamper with=
 charitable giving. Let's take this off the table for good so charities can=
 get back to focusing on delivering their missions without fear of further =
governmental hurdles.<br /><br />After our teleconference call this past Tu=
esday, what we heard loud and clear is that we need to speak up and share o=
ur stories. In the RESOURCE section of this newsletter you will find all th=
e help you need to call the White House, Tweet, send a letter to your congr=
essional representatives, and tell your story.<br /><br />We thank you for =
