Subject: Potent Activism Workshop - please circulate
Colleagues,
Would it be possible to circulate or post on social media the following announcement to graduate and undergraduate students, new graduates, alumni, faculty, and staff?
Thank you,
Ann McLaughlin MSW
~~~~~~~~~
1. POTENT ACTIVISM WORKSHOP on ZOOM
Save the date! TUE, January 30, 5pm Pacific time
We live in a tumultuous time and face tremendous challenges.
Feel like you don't know what to do or how to impact events?
This workshop is for you.
While others delve into the problems or topics, my focus is solutions, skills and strategies.
First, we will look at examples of ineffectual social action - failed, flash-in-the-pan revolutions - in Sudan and Lebanon.
Then in contract, we will look at potent change-makers who achieved their goals in Serbia and Liberia.
What are the ingredients and strategies to create enduring change?
Whether you are a therapist or a community organizer, what are the skills of fruitful change-making that stretch from micro to macro?
More information about how to register will be coming soon.
If for some reason you do not get this next announcement, email me (Ann McLaughlin) at [log in to unmask] for more information and how to register.
2. WORLD CHANGE-MAKER:
Build Skills in International Development and Social Work
The Potent Activism Workshop is a natural extension of my book World Change-Maker.
In my work over the last 20 years, I noticed that many students and new graduates felt they did not have the necessary skills to work internationally.
World Change-Maker was written to fill that gap.
The easiest way to get World Change-Maker is online directly from the publisher:
https://mcfarlandbooks.com/product/world-change-maker/
More info here about this book:
3: NGOabroad CLOSING
I founded and direct NGOabroad: International Careers and Volunteering I built skilled placements in Social Work/Psychology, Nursing, Medicine, Public Health, Education, Business, Engineering, Environmental, Agriculture, Political Science, Public Administration & the trades in Asia, Africa, South America and MENA.
http://ngoabroad.com/
International development has been my passion for the last 20 years.
But now, I feel called to other work.
Though NGOabroad will remain open a crack please remove any links to NGOabroad to assist in its eventual closure.
Thank you,
Ann McLaughlin
