Waterfalls of Wellness: Practicing Intentional Wellness and Resilience.

Join us as we explore the art and science of wellness, resilience and self-care.
Specifically, we will investigate how the mind-body connection can improve chronic health concerns, the risk of mental health conditions, addiction, and trauma and thus improve quality of life. This conference seeks to explore mental wellness and provide participants with transfer skills and practices for professional and personal fulfillment.
All meals and refreshments are included. To attend all events is $15. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN LODGING. Contact Blackwater Falls about the block of rooms held as "Wellness Conference". Our special conference rate is $99 a night.
This two day conference begins with PRE-CONFERENCE ACTIVITIES at the park on Thursday, October 3rd from 1 PM until 5 PM.
Pre-conference Activities to choose from may include: [There are no continuing education credits offered for pre-conference activities.]
1. Woods Walking- Facilitated: Blackwater Staff If you'd like to help support the Nature Center, please bring bird seed for their feeders or a cash donation!
2. Tibetan Prayer Flags & Nature Printing: An arts and crafts activity
3. Chair Massage: licensed massage therapist
4. On your own! Check out the Beauty of Blackwater Falls
October 3rd, THURSDAY at 5:30 PM: Dinner and World Cafe
Dinner will be served in the conference room. There will be discussions in the style of the World Cafe Model. Topics will be varied and include the Icelandic Model of Prevention, sober living, suicide prevention, meditation, music, alternative holistic medicine and more. At 8 PM there will be an optional smores and hot chocolate event just for fun at the FIRE RING AT THE LODGE.
Continuing education credits are pending for this evening for addiction, prevention, social work, LPC, nursing, first responders, STAR and more.
October 4th, FRIDAY: 8:00 – 8:30 Registration & Refreshments
Workshop topics include Mindfulness, Self-Care and First Responders, Resiliency and Stress Management Tools.
There will be a Silent Auction this day to benefit Cindy's Closet of Tucker County: be sure to bring cash or checks to pay for your winnings. There promises to be a wide variety of items to bid on, including some local creative works.
Dr. Sabrina N’Diaye PhD, LCSW, Senior Faculty Supervisor, The Center for Mind-Body Medicine will present both keynote and closing plenary. You can read more about her work here: http://www.drsabrinandiaye.com/
You will be able to choose one morning and one afternoon workshop. We will complete the day by 4:30 PM.
