CASA works with abused and neglected children that are in foster care through circuit court. We are their voice in court, we get to know the child well enough to advocate for their best interest and we report directly to the judge. 
This is a great opportunity to gain experience in the field of social work while being part of the solution and helping a child through a difficult and scary time. CASA of the Eleventh Judicial Circuit is looking for individuals who want to advocate for a child in court in Greenbrier and or Pocahontas Counties. 
Initial training is 30 hours and can be scheduled to fit the individual's needs. Training can be completed either  independently or in group.
Hours are flexible and mileage accrued is reimbursable. 
Advocate must be at least 21years old, have a valid driver's license, and pass a background check. 
Advocate will gain experience with:
Voicing a child's wants and needs 
Court Procedures
Preparing court reports
Collaborating with; law enforcement, education system, and social services. 
Social services include: Child Protective Service, WV Birth to Three, Children's Home Society, and Right from the Start, etc.
