Social Service programs and charitable organizations are increasingly
asked to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of services to
many stakeholders. These include but are not limited to funders,
community partners, political leaders and clients. For some this is not
always an easy task nor is it deemed a priority when addressing the
needs of clients is urgent. Using evaluation techniques that assist in
meeting the often competing demands of clients and others is an
important strategy. This workshop will focus on the tenets of
client-centered management and how they inform evaluation and program
improvement. The principles of evidenced-based practice will be
explored. This workshop will include lecture, small group and individual
practice applications. Participants are strongly encouraged to bring
relevant agency information to the workshop. Led by Dr. Helen Hartnett,
WVU Division of Social Work.

While nonprofit organizations struggle with very limited resources,
they do have one enormous resource with huge potential-the Internet.
Social media and online marketing offer a wealth of low-cost
opportunities for nonprofits to reach volunteers and donors. These
opportunities, used correctly, can also provide a new way to raise
awareness and funds, collaborate, spread your message, and empower
people. Participants should be able to identify and determine the best
use of social marketing strategies, tools, and tactics to help meet
organization mission. Led by David Welch.
