** High Priority **

WVU Division of Social Work has two faculty positions available at our
Charleston, WV campus. Detailed information attached

1) Faculty Position/Coordinator of Off-Campus MSW Program

The Division of Social Work of the West Virginia University Eberly
College of Arts and Sciences seeks dynamic leadership to Coordinate its
southern off-campus MSW program offered in Charleston and Beckley, West
Virginia. The position is full-time at the rank of Teaching Assistant
Professor. The position includes a combination of teaching,
administrative service and project development to advance the mission of
the Division of Social Work with particular emphasis on the needs of
southern West Virginia. Teaching Assistant Professors at WVU are
non-tenure track and eligible for promotion, however promotion to senior
ranks is not a requirement for institutional commitment and career
stability in a Teaching Faculty appointment.

Successful candidates must have a doctoral degree, a MSW degree from a
CSWE-accredited program, and at least five years of post-MSW practice
experience, with preference for candidates with administrative
experience as well as direct practice. Preference will be given to
candidates with the following: Teaching experience in social welfare
policy, practice with organizations and communities, knowledge of
reaccreditation standards of the Council on Social Work Education,
understanding of social work practice in rural environments, and
evidence of the ability to build relationships among various
constituencies in the community.

2) Faculty Position

The West Virginia University Division of Social Work invites
nominations and applications for the position of Teaching Instructor or
Teaching Assistant Professor of Social Work serving its southern
off-campus MSW program offered in Charleston and Beckley, West Virginia.
Qualifications require at least two years of post-MSW social work
practice experience and the ability to teach direct practice and
clinical practice courses. An MSW degree from a CSWE accredited program
and an earned doctorate in social work or related field are required for
appointment at the rank of Teaching Assistant Professor. Teaching
Assistant Professors at WVU are non-tenure track and eligible for
promotion, however promotion to senior ranks is not a requirement for
institutional commitment and career stability in a Teaching Faculty
appointment

This is a nine month appointment for the academic year (August 15
through May 15). The initial appointment can begin as early as the
spring semester, January 2011. The position has the potential for
supplementary summer support depending on program need. Instructional
responsibilities include a combination of teaching graduate level
academic courses, advising students, and coordinating field education
The successful candidate will teach primarily in Charleston and Beckley,
and may also be expected to teach other MSW program sites depending on
expertise of the successful applicant and program need. Teaching
expectations may require the use of interactive video and other distance
technologies. The successful applicant will also be responsible for
outreach to agencies to establish and maintain field placements for
students in service to the community, program, department, school and
university. Attendance at monthly faculty meetings on the Morgantown
campus is required.

Given that the successful candidate will have an office in the
state’s capital city, interest in developing projects in
collaboration with state agencies, the legislature, and the West
Virginia Chapter of NASW is highly desirable. An example of such a
project would be organizing student Social Work Day at the Legislature
for the Division’s students statewide.
