Citizen Soldiers of the West Virginia National Guard have been serving
on the frontlines of the war against terrorism since 9/11, leaving
behind family to fight a war of their own. When a need arises, military
families must find resources in the communities in which they live.
This presentation will provide an insight into the military world as
well as information and the latest resources available to service
members, families, and Social Workers in the field.

Learning Objectives
●	To gain a common understanding of “military culture” and
values system that are very unique to our Military Families and may
cause barriers to providing service

●	To explore deployment, the largest stress factor that challenges
our Military Families and their communities today

●	To identify resources that are available that will assist Social
Workers, Counselors, Educators, community members to best meet that
unique and challenging needs of our Military Families for all stages of
deployment.
