Admissions and Academic Advising Coordinator
Division of Social Work, West Virginia University

The Division of Social Work, West Virginia University, invites applications for a Coordinator of Admissions and Advising beginning spring semester 2010.  This academic advising position is full-time and benefits eligible.  Duties and responsibilities include:  Advising social work pre-majors, undergraduate and graduate students; supervising Graduate Research Assistants in assisting pre-majors in admissions and scheduling requirements as needed; providing guidance in recruitment and admissions and communicating with other higher educational institutions in West Virginia;  working as a team member with faculty admissions and program committees; representing the Division of Social Work with the WVU Academic Services Center.  Instruction of up to 6 credits per year of either undergraduate or graduate courses is required.  Administrative reporting duties include tracking data and developing summary reports as required by the University and the Council on Social Work Accreditation.  Serving as a team member with MSW and BSW Program Directors and the Division Chair is essential as orientation, web-site information, coordination, and program activities require.

Requirements for qualified applicants are:  minimum of two years post MSW degree experience and social work license eligible.  Preferred experiences include academic instruction, student academic advising, community relations, and student support services.   The qualified applicant will have strong computer and organizational skills, communication skills, ability to work with diverse populations, capacity to supervise graduate students, and ability to demonstrate good judgment in the academic setting.
