I guess I will add on to this. After seeing so many responses to this, I
am proud to be a veteran and a social worker. I served in The first Gulf
War as a medic with the 1st of the 3rd/ 327 Infantry 101st Airborne
Division. I was the only female among 300 men and was picked to serve
with them because I was 32 years old and they wanted to see how women
would fair in male units. I did okay. My dad was a Korean conflict
veteran and my oldest brother was a Vietnam Veteran. (Both are deceased)
I left the Army as a nurse but was told by my VA counselor I sounded
like a Social Worker. He was right...I feel as a Social Worker, we are
always called to service on a daily basis. As a Veteran, I am honored to
be a part of this country, state, and my profession.

Hello Everyone,
I am so honored to be among you all! Thank you to each who have served
and continue to serve. And thank you to all the families and friends
who continue to keep our Veterans in your thoughts and prayers. You are
so very important to so many.

To each, I appreciate all that you do and continue to give.
 Sincerely
Donna

Jacki,
Here is another "me, too". I was in the Air Force during the early
years
of Vietnam, but only on stateside duty. My uncle, who raised my sister
and
I after our dad left, was in the Normandy Invasion and wounded in France
a
week later. I have a son who just returned from Sadr City for the
second
time, with a trip to Afghanistan in between, and my granddaughters'
husband
is currently in Afghanistan. Another Son was in the 82nd Airborne for
several years and another one was in the Air Force in Saudi Arabia as an
egress mechanic on F-111's. I am proud of all of them.

Rosa McKinney, MSW, LSW
