Who Should Attend
This training is essential for first responders to victims of sexual
assault including: criminal justice professionals, victim advocates,
hospital personnel, SANEs, prosecutors, EMS, social service providers,
higher education staff and other first responding professionals.
Description/Learning Objectives:
Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) is a multi disciplinary approach to
provide adequate support for a victim of sexual assault and to
facilitate the arrest, prosecution and conviction of the offender.
Learning Objectives:
Identify roles and responsibilities of first responders to
sexual assault including: advocates, law enforcement, Sexual Assault
Nurse Examiners (SANEs), and Prosecutors
Understand and identify immediate needs of a sexual assault
victim
Understand sexual assault and its impact on the victim
Understand unique aspects of a drug-facilitated sexual assault
Learn importance of a medical forensic examination in sexual
assault/abuse cases
Understand WV laws pertaining to sexual assault/abuse
Identify benefits of a coordinated community response for first
responders of sexual assault
