'Promoting Health Equality: Addressing the Root Causes of Disparities'

 

Dr. Camara Jones

Research Director on Social Determinants of Health

United States Centers for Disease Control

Greenbrier Street, Charleston, WV

 

Dr. Jones is a family physician and epidemiologist whose work focuses on
the impact of racism on the health and well-being of the nation.
Delegate Don Perdue, Chair of the House Health Committee, has
experienced her presentation and recommends it very highly. 

 

This will be a very important and informative forum. Following Dr.
Jones' presentation will be a panel discussion by the following
individuals and their topic areas:

 

*	Barbara Bays, MSW, Director of Good News Mountaineer Garage,
will speak from the perspective of transportation issues and barriers. 
*	Dr. Luis Bracero, Ob-Gyn, Director of Maternal Fetal
Medicine/Faculty WVU School of Medicine- Charleston Division, Member-
Central Advisory Council of the WV Perinatal Partnership, will speak
from the perinatal perspective. 
*	Chris Curtis, Acting Commissioner of the Bureau of Public
Health, WV DHHR, will speak from the public health perspective. 
*	Joe Hatfield, Director of the WV Housing Development Fund, will
speak from the housing perspective. 
*	Reverend Ronald Patterson will speak from the community
perspective. 
*	Renate Pore, PhD, MPH, Analyst for the WV Center on Budget and
Policy, will speak about the CDC's report on adverse childhood
experiences.
