Mountain State University and The Beckley Human Rights Commission will
host a diversity workshop titled,"Dimensions of Diversity" on November
3rd from 7 pm to 9:30 pm at the John W. Eye Conference Center on the
Beckley Campus of MSU.
The workshop will be led by Diana Bell, a multi-award winning
licensed social worker from Wheeling, WV. Ms. Bell has served as a
community activist and advocate for social justice for over 20 years.
Her background includes service on over 30 different education and
community boards or panels. Among her current responsibilities, she
serves as the Racial Justice Director for the Young Women's Christian
Association in Wheeling and a Human Rights Commissioner for the City of
Wheeling.
During the two hour workshop, Bell will cover understandings of racism
and its impact, the connections between stereotypes and behavior,
benefits of cross-cultural communication as well as the impact of
valuing diversity. Refreshments will be made available after the
workshop for participants.
Continuing Education Credits will be made available for professionals in
social work, nursing, and occupational therapy.
