LeadershipPlenty Training

November 9-12, 2009

Ramada Plaza Hotel, South Charleston

                Volunteer West Virginia, the state's Commission for
National and Community Service is offering the complete LeadershipPlenty
training November 9-12, 2009 at the Ramada Plaza Hotel in South
Charleston.

The LeadershipPlenty program is a skill-building program based on the
premise that every person has assets to bring to the community table.
The program teaches skills in partnership development, conflict
management, and taking action.

This hands-on interactive training will begin promptly at 10:00am on
Monday, November 9. It will end by 4:00pm on Thursday, November 12.
The registration fee of $165 covers lunches and breaks on all four days.
Social Work CEUs are available. The registration form is attached.
Directions to the hotel and agendas will be emailed to each registrant.

Topics covered in LeadershipPlenty

*         Finding Leaders Within

*         Identifying Community Assets

Strengthening leadership establishes new ways of thinking and new
patterns of behavior in a community. The LeadershipPlenty program
embraces the belief that people from different backgrounds can and must
work together and it provides the tools to prepare them for the task.
The program is guided by a set of core values and assumptions:

* People working together can solve problems in a creative way

* Communities need a diverse perspective to address issues

*         Problem-solving should be inclusive

*         Learning is a life-long activity

* Working together to solve community issues builds
relationships that benefit the overall health of the community

Volunteer West Virginia has applied to the WV Development Office for
funds for registration scholarships for people who live or work in the
13 distressed counties. This funding is not confirmed at this time.
