COMMUNITY RESOURCES:  NOW YOU KNOW

Bethany College (490052) and the Altenheim Resource Center are now hosting
the Fall 2009 Lunch & Learn noon programs focusing on Community Resources:
Now You Know.  The sessions focus on youth (Sept 22); adults (Oct 27); and,
seniors (Nov 24).  Each session costs $5 and offers one CEU for WV Social
Workers.  Participants are encouraged to bring their lunch.  Drinks and
munchies are provided.

 

The youth program (Bobby's Books, a program of Valley Hospice) was held on
Sept 22 and Deb Barto of Valley Hospice offered an interesting presentation
of a program that helps children learn and enhance coping skills through
children's literature.  The books are applicable to many areas of loss:
divorce, moves, health, disability, favorite objects, life changes and
death.  We may repeat this program if we have the interest so if you weren't
here and would like to have a repeat, please call us!

 

Oct 27 will focus on "The New Normal:  Coping with Vision Loss" and will be
presented by Joyce Britt, M.S., L.S.W. of The Seeing Hand Inc.
Participants of this program will learn coping techniques and interventions
for consumers with vision loss.

 

Nov 24 will focus on "Services for Seniors:  I Need Help!" and will be
presented by Ann Koegler, M.A., L.S.W. of Altenheim Resource Center.
Participants of this program will learn about the range of services
available to seniors and will offer information on home services, community
services and facility services.

 

SPIRITUALITY & AGING:  PART II - FOCUS ON DEMENTIA

Rev Maggie Sebastian will present "Spirituality and Aging:  Part II - Focus
on Dementia" on Nov 17 from 9am - 12noon.  There will be 3 CEUs for WV
Social Workers (Bethany College 490052) and WV Professional Registered
Nurses (Altenheim Resource Center WV 2003 0431 RN) and the cost will be $15
if registered AND paid by November 10; or, $20 if registration and payment
are received after that date.
