Quoting Jane Hange, WV Statewide Afterschool Network:
Everyone,
Our friends at Prevent Child Abuse WV have many initiatives relating to
the well-being of the state's children and families. Here's one that
could have benefits for the children and families of your afterschool
program. Genny Ferri, Community Partnerships Coordinator, provided the
info below on how to apply for one of 10 Good Beginnings mini-grants of
up to $1,000 for activities relating to child abuse prevention. Also
see the attached lists of Good Beginning projects funded in 2008 and
2009.
Genny added, "Although none of these in particular were conducted
through After-School programs, we do work directly through our statewide
Partners in Prevention initiative with after school programs in Kanawha
& Wood counties. And, I know that many of our other partners
collaborate with After School programs in their community work as well.
As you will see, grants have been awarded in the past couple years
through Head Starts, Pre-K's, Starting Points Centers, Child Care
Centers, etc. Hopefully, you will find these descriptions helpful.
We've had a strong desire to connect more deliberately with the field of
education..."
