NORC, the National Opinion Research Center at the University of Chicago,
under contract to the Department of Veterans Affairs Office of Rural Health,
is seeking examples of Social Work efforts designed to increase access to
health care services, improve quality of care, and/or enhance service
coordination for rural veterans. Examples may include outreach, support in
benefits acquisition, transportation, etc., and may be conducted in
collaboration with the VA or independently from the VA.
If you, your agency or office has conducted work targeting the needs of
rural veterans, please contact Katy McBride at [log in to unmask]
(mailto:[log in to unmask]) , or at 301-634-9318. NORC will follow up with
respondents to seek additional information that may be included (with
permission) in a VA Issue Brief on collaborative opportunities between Social
Workers and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Additionally, model activities will be collected for the future
development of a compendium demonstrating public health initiatives to better serve
rural veterans.
