The Division of Social Work of the West Virginia University Eberly
College of Arts and Sciences seeks candidates for a position in its Nova
Institute. The position is full-time, non-tenure track,
faculty-equivalent with the title Program Coordinator. The position
includes a combination of project oversight; grant development, and
possible instructional support to advance the mission of the Nova
Institute and the Division of Social Work
Successful candidates must have an MSW degree or a master’s degree in
a closely related discipline or profession (for example, public
administration, sociology, international social development, or social
anthropology). Computer skills and experience with SPSS and spreadsheet
programs are required. Preference will be given to candidates with 2 or
more years experience in project coordination, research, or grant
development. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal
skills, excellent writing and editing skills, and demonstrated knowledge
of research methods and grant seeking. Flexibility for dealing with a
changing climate of funded projects and willingness to learn new skills
related to the development of online curriculum are preferred.
Demonstrated ability to supervise graduate assistants and other staff is
also desirable.
Under current funding, the Program Coordinator will be responsible for
day-to-day management of a major program evaluation grant, including
data collection, data entry, report writing, assistance with budgeting,
supervising graduate assistants, and possible presentation of results at
conferences. Additional duties will include grant brokering, including
computer searches for grant opportunities, grant template development,
connecting faculty with similar interests into interdisciplinary
research teams, gathering preliminary data and producing graphics for
grant proposals, and editing grants for format and guideline
requirements. The Program Coordinator will also be expected to
represent the Nova Institute and the Division of Social Work in relevant
community contexts and meetings; garner support among community-based
organizations to cooperate on funded projects; and manage small service
projects which are part of larger funded demonstration projects. The
Program Coordinator will also have some involvement in the development
of online courses.
This is a nine month academic-year appointment with summer salary
depending on the level of external funding or need for instructional
support.
