Dartmouth Summer Institute in Evidence-Based Psychiatry and Mental Health - 3rd Annual
<http://dms.dartmouth.edu/dsi/>

When: Thursday August 7 - mid-day Saturday August 9, 2008

Where: Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire (an easy two-hour drive from Boston, Springfield, and many other New England locations; easy access from airports throughout New England).

What: This is an intensive, introductory, 2.5 day course. Through discussion and hands-on learning, you'll acquire skills needed to practice evidence-based psychiatry and mental health. We use an active, case-based approach in a comfortable, small-group environment. A hallmark of this Institute is the low student-faculty ratio and the individual attention each participant receives. 17.5 AMA PRA Category I credits.

Who: The Institute is for psychiatrists and other mental health professionals who want to learn the evidence-based process to improve the effectiveness of their clinical practice. It's especially useful for resident training directors and individual practitioners converting to evidence-based approaches. Attendance will be limited to 32 participants to maximize individual learning.

Why: After completing this Institute, participants will be able to:
* Incorporate the evidence-based process into their daily patient care and teaching.
* Create well-built, answerable clinical questions based on particular patient problems.
* Effectively search online resources to find the best scientific evidence in the mental health literature.
* Critically appraise the quality and clinical significance of the studies they identify.
* Determine if the results of a study are applicable to their individual patient or patient population.

How much:
$995 ($795 for residents and trainees). This fee includes:
* Course Materials
* Daily continental breakfast, lunch, breaks, and Thursday night's dinner.

Registration opens: Monday, April 7, 2008
