Social Work Faculty/MSWCoordinator
The Division of Social Work of the West Virginia University Eberly College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a part-time, benefits eligible, non-tenure track faculty position beginning January 16, 2009. In addition to teaching responsibilities, this position will provide site coordination for the part-time MSW program in Martinsburg, West Virginia, area.
Candidates must have an MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited program and a minimum of two years of post-MSW practice experience. An earned doctorate in social work or related field is desirable. Expertise and teaching interest are desired in one or more of the following areas: gerontology, social welfare policy, and practice with families and individuals, or practice with organizations and communities.
Evidence of capacity to build relationships among various constituencies in the community, to provide leadership to an off-campus component of the MSW program, and to function within the policies of the Division of Social Work is essential.
Appointment will be consistent with qualifications. This is a nine month appointment with two additional months of summer support contingent upon assessment of need, funding, and performance. Teaching responsibilities include teaching one course each of fall, spring, and summer semesters. Teaching expectations may require the use of interactive video and other distance technologies. This position is contingent upon sufficient enrollment in the MSW Degree Program offered in the Martinsburg area.
The site coordinator is responsible for advising all students in the Martinsburg cohort, networking with local agencies to plan field placements, serving as faculty liaison, recruiting students, and working with adjunct instructors in the Martinsburg area. The coordinator will attend monthly faculty meetings on the Morgantown campus and participate as a member of the MSW committee.
