TENURE-TRACK FACULTY POSITION AVAILABLE
The West Virginia University Division of Social Work invites nominations and applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor effective fall semester 2009-2010 academic year. Teaching, research and publication, and service to the community, program, department, school and university are required. Preference will be given to candidates who have expertise and research interest in one or more of the following areas: gerontology, social welfare policy, clinical practice with families and individuals, or practice with organizations and communities. Other areas will be considered as secondary areas of interest.
Qualifications required for appointment to this position include: MSW degree from a CSWE-accredited institution and PhD in social work or a related field (late stage ABD status may be considered.); at least two years of post-MSW social work practice experience desired (especially for faculty teaching practice courses); ability and willingness to teach across BSW and MSW programs. At the rank of associate, applicants need to have demonstrated achievements in publications and scholarship.
Desired qualifications include: potential and experience for securing external funding; ability to teach in at least two core curricular areas; and interest in distance and/or online teaching.
The Division of Social Work has 560 students in its BSW and MSW programs, including its graduate, off-campus locations. The Division has a strong, national reputation for its dedication to working with small towns and rural communities and funded projects in aging, child welfare, disabilities and disasters. Most recently, the Division has started to develop international programming and scholarships offering opportunities for faculty exchange, student learning and collaboration with other universities. Both the BSW and MSW degree programs are fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
West Virginia University, located in Morgantown, has a student body of 28,000. Morgantown, recently selected as the best small city in the east, is located in the scenic foothills of the Appalachian Mountains.
