At the conclusion of this lecture series, participants should be able
to:
Pathophysiology of Neuropathic Pain -
1. describe the most recent developments in the understanding of
pain-related neuroplasticity as it relates to chronic pain as a disease;
and
2. comprehend the roles of peripheral, spinal and supraspinal central
nervous system channels and receptors in neuropathic pain.
Managing Your Own Success -
1. identify concrete principles to apply toward developing leadership
skills; and
2. illustrate how the science of sports psychology can apply to all
areas of achievement.

This lecture series is appropriate for all physicians, nurses, social
workers, students, other health care providers, and the public who are
interested in the recent developments in chronic pain treatment and
personally enriching their careers by learning how to manage success.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the
Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing
Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the WVU
School of Medicine Office of Continuing Medical Education and the
Hospice Care Corporation. The WVU Office of CME is accredited by the
ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The WVU
Office of CME designates this educational activity for a maximum of 2
AMA PRA Category 1 Credits TM. Physicians should only claim credit
commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

This continuing education activity has been provided by the West
Virginia University School of Nursing for 2.4 contact hours. The West
Virginia University School of Nursing is an approved provider of
continuing education by the State of West Virginia Board of Examiners
for Registered Professional Nurses, Legislature Rule ยง19CSR11-4 under
provider number WV1996-0120RN.

Additional continuing education credit has been requested for social
workers and from the WVU Extended Learning Continuing and Professional
Education.
