Counselor II              

Position:  Full- time benefits eligible; Pay Grade 17 ($30,767 per
year),   
Classified employee, Exempt status 
Location:         Moorefield Headquarters, HARCO Complex  
Responsibilities:  Facilitates admission and transition of  students
into 
higher education, plus monitors academic progress.  Administers
counseling 
services to  individual students, determine appropriate intervention or
referral, 
and assists  with remediation or problem resolution.  Teaches student
success 
courses and facilitates workshops, such as study  skills, time
management, crime 
prevention, and drug and alcohol prevention.  The position coordinates

delivery  of placement testing services, including scheduling, as well
as training 
and  monitoring of testing personnel.   Position provides admission 
and 
registration information to prospective and current students. 
Coordinates with 
learner support  services staff concerning transcript evaluation,
financial aid, 
and policy  interpretation.  Plans and  implements some student
activities.  
Serves as Retention Coordinator.  This position reports to Dean of
Academics and 
Student  Services. 
Qualifications:  Education – Minimum Masters Degree in  Counseling or
related 
field required.  Experience -  Minimum of two (2) years relevant  
professional level experience required.  Position requires demonstrated
and 
well-developed counseling skills.  Experience in an educational
environment  or with adult 
learners highly desirable.  The successful candidate must possess
excellent 
oral and written  communication and interpersonal skills; problem
solving, and 
customer service  skills.  Routine travel required  throughout the
College’s 
service district.  Responsibilities require availability and
willingness to work 
flexible  schedule hours, including evenings and weekends, particularly

during  registration and recruitment periods.
