EARLY BIRD RATE OF $22.50 EXTENDED UNTIL
3/19/07!__________________________________________________________________
We have an excellent opportunity for you to learn some of the "ins and
outs" of the role balance that must happen between the board and the
staff in order for a nonprofit to run effectively.
"Executive Director and the Board: Realistic Roles and
Responsibilities" is being held on March 20, from 7:30-9:30am in
Morgantown (WVU Mountainlair). The early bird rate of $22.50 is extended
until 3/19 to attend this session. It is going to be a really great
opportunity to hear from current EDs and Board Members about how they
work together to accomplish goals; sort out roles, etc.

Some questions that will be disussed by the panel are:
Questions to board members
1. What motivates you to serve on this board?
2. What challenges do you face?
3. What are the rewards?
4. Why would you refuse to serve on a board?
Questions to the Executive Directors
1. Do you recruit your own board members? Talk about the pros
and/or cons.
2. What is your benchmark for deciding what to go to the board with
and/or what you can handle yourself? Is that a different decision with
financial issues?
3. Do you serve on a board yourself? If so, see Questions to board
members J
Questions to both:
1. Can you share effective ways to problem solve and communicate
between the staff and the Board?
2. Share an experience where the roles became blurred. What was
the situation, how was it (or wasn’t it) resolved. Was anything
within the organization changed to avoid a repeat situation?
