Developmental Disabilities Related Issues in Clinical Practice
This seminar will explore contemporary issues and approaches in
supporting persons who have developmental disabilities. The seminar will
focus on: the underlying principles of integration, independence,
inclusion, productivity, and self-determination; some lessons learned
from the history of the treatment of people; the phenomena and effects
of the devaluation of people with developmental disabilities; the
effects of achieving valued social roles; some strategies to assist
individuals to achieve fulfilling and
productive lives and the public policy and implications.

Advanced Ethical Issues
A brief overview of the use of ethics differentially across fields of
practice will be presented. A working paradigm will be explained. It
will be a workshop assumption that participants know basic ethics and
ethics specific to their profession. Therefore, a significant amount of
time will be devoted to discussing and possibly resolving ethical
dilemmas brought from the field. Those who sign up will be requested to
submit current ethical issues and dilemmas confronting them.

The Changing Nature of Change and how We Change
This workshop will explore how constant change has become an integral
part of out professional lives and how we not only live and adapt but
harness change. Participants will explore their own patterns of change

predictable and unpredictable changes to enhance services to clients.

Assessment and Diagnosis of Mental Illness
