New Online Course for MSW Students
Social Work Practice in End-of-Life Care – SW 693
Spring 2008
Course Description
This course is offered as a distant learning course and is designed to
integrate MSW students throughout the state into a course focused on
social work with those who are dying and those who are bereaved by
death. It is designed as an elective course to provide the student with
a broad overview of practice and policy issues that impact social work
practice in end-of-life care and to prepare the social work student for
social work practice with clients coping with terminal illness, loss,
and grief. The course will meet face-to-face the first week of classes
in Morgantown and will then utilize weekly journal entries; required
responses in a threaded discussion forum; completion of NASW online mini
courses; review of online lecture notes, handouts, and internet
resources; assigned textbook readings; and additional online assignments
to facilitate the student’s learning experience.
