People experience conflict, but many do not have effective means of
resolving and moving beyond their disputes. Pittsburgh Mediation
Center’s (PMC) conflict resolution training assists participants in
developing the fundamental skills needed for the constructive resolution
of conflicts. This training is interactive, using lecture, discussion,
exercises, and role-plays. The PMC Conflict Resolution Training is a
prerequisite for the PMC Mediation Training.

Learning Objectives: At the conclusion of the workshop, participants
will understand why communication is difficult in conflict situations;
develop and awareness of personal attitudes and styles in dealing with
conflict; become proficient at using a variety of tools for managing
conflict; understand how differing points of view affect conflict;
develop an awareness of how one’s background and personal history
affect one’s experience with conflict and understand and practice
tools for engaging others in constructive conversations about conflict.
