Dear Professor,
The veteran population is one that many social workers will encounter
in their careers. It is important to be aware of veterans' specific
needs
in almost every branch of this discipline, weather it be working for
the
VA, counseling students with parents oversees, or ensuring a system
makes
veterans' transitions home easier.
We are inviting students and professionals to join us on April 10th at
the Soldiers and Sailors
Memorial Museum in Pittsburgh for a seminar about what we can do for
veterans of
the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. We hope that you will attend this
event and
encourage your classes to come as well. There will be continuing
education
credits available.
Please encourage your students who are veterans,
families of veterans, or families of current soldiers to also come on
April
11th. More information will be arriving. We thank you for your help
in
making sure that our veterans receive the respect and services they
deserve and we hope to see you in April.
Sincerely,
Allegheny County Veterans Preparedness Committee
