“Social Emotional Development: The Precursor For All Learning”

The goal of this presentation is to increase social workers information
on the social emotional development needs of young children to improve
learning outcomes as at risk children enter school and childcare
programs. There is a recognition that many children entering pre-k have
behavior issues that are linked to social emotional needs being unmet. 
These behaviors than impact their ability to participate in school
learning and play activities.

Betsy Thigpen has BS in Social Work and Master in Child Development.
She is an Early Education and Management Specialist at Western Kentucky
University and presents on early childhood issues.
