This presentation will focus on medications used to treat psychosis,
mood disorders, and anxiety disorders, their major side effects, and the
need for monitoring. Social workers can often play a significant role in
identifying problems related to the use of these medications.
At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1. Identify medications approved for the treatment of psychosis,
mood disorders, and anxiety disorders
2. Describe appropriate monitoring for medications used for the
treatment of psychosis, mood disorders, and anxiety disorders
3. Identify ways in which the social work professional can
effectively address observed patient symptoms / side effects in order to
optimize patient outcomes for patients with psychosis, mood disorders,
and anxiety disorders
